![]() Let’s look at each of the three elements of the Abrahamic Covenant again, this time connecting it to Christ.Įven Abraham realized that the dwelling that he longed for was not just a physical reality but a spiritual one. Were these promises meant only for Abraham himself?ĭid Abraham see these promises fulfilled?Īre these meant to be seen as only physical realities or is there a spiritual element to this covenant? Well our Fighter Verse begins to answer this question doesn’t it? “If you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s offspring (seed).” That through Abraham all nations on the earth would be blessed. ![]() God promised Abraham that he would be blessed in order to be a blessing. ![]() Much like the promise to Adam and Eve in Genesis 3:15, this Seed would bring hope and healing to the nations. The covenant would be fulfilled by this Seed. God promised Abraham that he would be a “great nation.” That he would have many offspring. Abraham (the new Adam) would dwell with God in this place. When man was forced out of the Garden of Eden due to sin, God made a plan to restore humanity to the land of promise through Abraham. God promised Abraham that he would give him a new land, the Promised Land, where God would live with Abraham and his offspring forever. I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.” And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. ![]() Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father's house to the land that I will show you. The Abrahamic Covenant is an amazing relationship between God and Abraham that promised him three things: Land, Seed, and Blessing. One of the things we probably don’t think much about at Christmas time is how the incarnation of Jesus fulfills the Abrahamic Covenant. And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise. ![]()
